I know I’ve been a little slow in posting about this since we went on our honeymoon back in October of last year. I finally decided to use Picasa Web Albums to show off our pictures. In the past I always used Flickr to upload photos…but I while back I ran into the 200 photo limit for free accounts.
Lauren and myself had the great pleasure of staying at Jackson Hole, Wyoming for our honeymoon. We also vistied two national parks, Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone. I know most people think we’re odd for picking Wyoming for a honeymoon, but I wouldn’t change a thing. After visiting, it is one of my favorite places I’ve ever been to. It is so beautiful and peaceful. No busy city life and all the associated problems. Just the great outdoors and fresh, clean air. Lots of wildlife as well.
I’m a huge fan of the mountains and national parks, so Wyoming was perfect for me. Lauren also loves nature and taking pictures so it worked for he as well. She would have like going to a beach, but I was afraid to schedule a cruise or beach vacation since it was still hurricane season. We almost went to Lake Tahoe, but after visiting Jackson Hole I’m glad we didn’t. I still would like to see Lake Tahoe, but I like the fact that Jackson is more secluded and not surround by casinos.
Another advantage of going to Jackson in October is that it is the off season. Not quite ski time but not warm weather season. Thus, the small town and surrounding national parks were extra peaceful…perfect for our honeymoon. I must admit that Wyoming is quite cold in late October, as the temperature was typically in the teens every morning. The cold weather didn’t bother us because we came prepared with our outdoor clothing. The weather would have bothered a lot of people. Another slight disadvantage of going in the off season is part of Yellowstone was closed to vehicle traffic due to the snow and some of the places in Jackson were also closed for the off season.
Wyoming isn’t perfect for a lot of people, but if you appreciate seeing God’s wonderful creation at its best I recommend going. Please check our photos to see why this place is so beautiful.
