It’s been a while since I’ve had a chance to write anything substantial for this blog (i.e., a tutorial or education post useful to a larger audience) and I don’t see that happening tonight either since I’ve been working very hard, long hours in Austin, Texas all week.

Today I left the hotel at about 7:20 am and got back after 9:00. I was physically at work from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm (to put this into context I normally work an 8-5 job. Once my team left work, we went to eat at what turned out to a slow restaurant–Buca. On a good note, the food was really good.

After leaving the restaurant, we managed to get turned around on the way back to the hotel. Due to the crazy, confusing Texas access roads, it took us a long time to find/get back to the hotel which was just a few miles down the street.

So my tip for this post is to have a good map, a GPS, and directions when visiting Austin because the roads are some of the strangest I’ve seen in the country. To make matters worse they don’t have enough signs saying get off on this access road to get to such and such.

On a much more positive note, I did just receive a promotion at work (praise be to God). Now I’m officially a Senior Information Systems Auditor. Sounds fancy, but really I’m just a step above a staff auditor. It will give me opportunities to lead smaller audits, make more judgment calls, present at more meetings, etc. All of which are valuable business experiences to have.

Well that’s about all I have for this post…told you it wouldn’t be anything substantial.
