As I mentioned in my first post about finally getting a Wii, my Wii remote quit working after a day and a half. Well, as the friendly Nintendo customer service agent promised, I got my free replacement in the mail within a week. I reported the problem Sunday afternoon after Church and had the new controller in my possession on Wednesday.

I eagerly opened it up and started the Wii hoping that my original controller was the problem and not the console itself. Sure enough, the new controller works like a charm. I haven’t had any problems out of it what so ever and I hope it stays that way. Knowing that new controller worked, I went ahead and shipped my old one back to Nintendo with the provided package and UPS label.

They asked for my credit card number as insurance when they sent the new Wii remote to me so they would know I wouldn’t try to keep both controllers. The only thing I’ve got left to do is wait for a confirmation from Nintendo stating that they’ve received the controller so I know I won’t be charged for the new one. I really don’t have to worry about UPS losing the package and Nintendo claiming I didn’t send it because I got a receipt from UPS stating that I dropped off the controller. I even have a tracking number if I want to monitor the package.

Anyway, enough about the warranty process. I’ve been having a blast with the Wii so far. I really want to get my hands on a few of the Virtual Console games, you know bring back all the classic games I loved playing as a child. Sonic the Hedgehog may be the first one I get because I’ve always been a huge Sonic fan. I was one of the few people that never owned a Super Nintendo, all I had was the Sega Genesis so you can see that Sonic was my man!

I did own a NES, but I don’t know of any must have games for it. Maybe Contra. Of course, the Virtual Console will also give me a chance to experience the SNES games I missed out on growing up :)

For now, that is until I get a Wii Points Card, I’ll stick to Zelda Twilight Princess and Wii Sports. Both of which are a blast to play.

If you know of any must have games, please let me know. I’ve been out of the gaming scene for way too long (e.g., since N64).

Thanks for the link…that’s got some good info on there. I’ve been looking at a lot of sites, including IGN, and never came across a list of so many virtual console game reviews.

Now you just need to get a Wi so you can become a fanatic like me ;)
