Free Joost Invites!!!
I finally received an invitation to Joost. For those of you who don’t already know, Joost is the new way to watch T.V. They claim its “All the things you love about TV, fused with the interactive power of the internet – just the way you want it.” Frankly, I haven’t been super impressed with it yet.
I did say yet, because I think this could be really cool technology. Right now, I feel the quality of channels they offer isn’t up to par. However, a few well known channels are available such as National Geographic and Comedy Central (though with limited show availability).
With all that being said, the software is quite neat and has a pretty cool interface. It allows you to watch T.V. full screen on your computer. The controls appear when you move your mouse around the edges of the monitor. I haven’t tried out the interactive features yet, but it looks like you can chat with other viewers while watching the show.
The only way to get Joost right now is to obtain an invite from someone who already has access (sounds like the old days of Gmail). I’ve got some invites and would like to offer them to readers of my site. I don’t want to be overwhelmed with request like some of the other sites giving the invites away were (the Life Hacker post had over 600 comments), so I’m offering to give out 34 invites. I picked 34 because that’s the most people I’ve seen subscribed to my humble little blog feed at one time. However, you don’t have to be a subscriber to receive an invite; you just need to be one of the first 34 to ask.
To be honest, I doubt I receive 34 request….but in case my site suddenly becomes popular I want to set the cut off limit ahead of time. To receive your invite leave your email in the comment section below or if you’d rather not post your email address on my site contact me through the Contact page of my site.

I’d LOVe an invite!!!
I just sent it to you. Sorry for the delay…I’ve been a way at work.
I’ll go for an invite Matt.
Dan, your invite is on its way.
If I still watched TV, I would be interested in this too…
I understand. I don’t watch a lot of TV myself. A do watch a bit more than I did a few months ago because I didn’t even have television access for several months unless I watched a tape or DVD. You’re welcome to an invite if you change your mind.
I would love an invite please.
Hi Matt,
I would love to get an invitation. Thanks for offering, that is a great sense of community.
Regards,
Patrick
I’d love an invite if you can spare one -
mschemper{at}gmail{dot}com
Thanks!
Dawn, Patrick, and Mark: I just sent each of you an invite. Let me know if it doesn’t go through. Thanks!
Thank you for the invite, I have it on right now. Thank you so much
If you still have any invites I would love to have one.
Thanks
Chris….
Can I have one too please? That is if you still have one to spare….
I think I’ve got everyone’s invite sent out now. If for some reason your invite hasn’t arrived, please let me know and I’ll resend it.
Just so everyone else knows who wants an invite, you can just leave a comment without you’re email address in it and only I can view. Thus you don’t have to worry about SPAM or use the Contact page that a few other people have been doing.
Hope everyone enjoys seeing what Joost is all about. I was more curious than anything when I was looking for an invite not so long ago myself.
Please may I have a Joost invite, I would really appreciate him.
You sure may Kieran. I’ll send it on in a minute.
May I have a Joost invite, too? By the way, I’d like to thank you for your excellent post on flashing the WRT54GL with DD-WRT. I ordered a WRT54GL earlier today, and I was struggling to find a clear, well-written explanation of the flashing process until I stumbled upon your site.
I didn’t know you were giving them away and I already got one from someone else. I would be interested in knowing how it connects as we get different channel availability in Europe. We get some you don’t and you get some (more) that we don’t. Maybe you set up a proxy (wink, wink)
i cant wait to check out joost. i would really like an invite and i will be grateful!
Alyson & Dev: I just sent your invites.
Zac: It’s good to hear from you. I did notice that Europe and other parts of the world get different channels than the U.S. Got to love all that licensing. I believe a proxy would work like a charm….the only problem would be the delay from the extra hops to cross from Europe to here. Maybe I’ll mess with a proxy sometime and let you know.
Right now I feel like a tech support person, everyone in my family is having computer problems. The biggest one is my aunt whose fairly new computer (barely out of warranty) is stuck in the unending boot. Won’t even go into safe mode…just reboots when you select it. I’m afraid it might be the hard drive, what do you think? I’m going to see about repairing Windows to eliminate any corrupted files before messing with the drive.
What do you think of that whole digg debacle and the HD DVD decryption keys?
Joost sounds really interesting. Please send me an invite at darnel@darneldegand.com. Thanks.
Hi Darnel,
I would love to send you an invite, but I no longer have Joost installed because I recently reformatted my hard drive. I’m sure one of the others who have received invites from me would be glad to send you one though.
I wish I could have helped because Joost is a pretty neat application.
