Today I’m finally getting cable installed at my new house. Lauren and myself have not had television since we go married back in October….surprisingly, we didn’t miss it that much either. I have missed Internet access like crazy though.

You may be wondering why we went without T.V. for so long. Basically, we were living before we got our house we couldn’t get cable. I didn’t want to get satellite because I knew we wouldn’t be living at the first house for too long and I knew I probably wouldn’t want a satellite when we moved (a.k.a. I wanted cable Internet). Every now and then we did catch a signal over the air waves but the picture was never was that great so eventually gave up trying.

Luckily for us, some family members were kind enough to record a few shows for us along the way so we weren’t completely cut off from seeing T.V. shows. Also, we watched some of the movies we owned, but that got old since we had already seen most of them. A couple of weeks ago, I signed up for the free trial of NetFlix. So, far I’ve been impressed wit Netflix and plan on keeping it.

Honestly, I don’t care that much that we’re even getting cable television. I only subscribed to the most basic cable service because it reduces the cost of broadband access so much that it almost pays for itself…plus, I’ve got NetFlix now. The cost of NetFlix and basic cable together is quite a bit cheaper than the cost of the next cable tier where I live. I recommend checking on this where you live…you might be able to save quite a bit of money and still watch most everything you want (if you don’t mind being a season behind).

I must admit, it will be nice to see the local news every once and a while. Plus, I actually know what the weather is going to be like before I wake up. At least in theory, they same to miss the forecast quite a bit Nonetheless, getting cable television installed is my first step in getting Cable Internet access. I’ve got to wait a few days so I can use the existing Cable customer subscription and setup discount.
