My First “Real” Job
As most you already know, I recently graduated from college. Graduation was a relief because it gave me a chance to relax for a little while. My last semester was extremely busy. The relaxation is about to be over though– I start my first “real” job in a little over a week, May 22. I say “real” because it is my first full-time, decent paying job and it is with HCA, a Fortune 500 Company.
I’m very blessed to have a job so quickly after graduation. The company hired me a few months before I graduated even though they knew I wouldn’t be able to start for a while.
I’m going to be working as an Information Systems Internal Auditor, a long and scary title I know. When I heard that the job was related to audit, I was skeptical about applying because in college accounting was one of my least favorite subjects. Nonetheless, I decided to learn more about the position. To my relief, the job has nothing to do with accounting. I audit computer systems, not financial stuff.
It should be fun job and I look forward to learning all kinds of new stuff. I do dread the long drive to work, especially with the insane gas prices. The drive is about 50 miles, which isn’t that bad. I will be working in downtown Nashville so the traffic is what worries me. I’ll appreciate any prayers because this is a big step in my life.

Matt, best of luck with your new job! HCA is a great company. I am very interested in the healthcare industry and am fairly familiar with HCA, please keep me posted on your experiences with the company. Have fun!
Thanks Dennis. I’m sure I will be writing more posts about my job experiences as time goes on. I won’t be able to write in much detail because of company policy, but I’ll write what I can.
I’m glad to hear you think HCA is a great company. I’ve heard from several people that said it is a good place to work and I’m sure it will be.
What all do you know about HCA and the healthcare industry?
