A Day Off

LaurenI told Matt last week that I would take Monday off to spend time with him after he graduated. So, yesterday, we went to Old Stone Fort State Historic Park in Manchester, TN to do a bit of hiking. The park is known for the ritual mounds created by the Native Americans 2,000 years ago. After visiting the museum for a history lesson, we hit the trails. The hiking Matt trails are built above and below the mounds. You can choose which path you want to take. Taking the trails below the mounds, we stayed close to the river as we worked our way through the spider webs and bugs to get to the waterfalls. We had a great time and got some great pictures. Back to the real world today…back to work.

I was very glad Lauren took a day off to be with me. We both needed a break. Old Stone Fort was a nice park. I had a great time hiking. The trails weren’t difficult, but it was nice to get outdoors for a while. The park had several nice waterfalls and a nice museum.

The second half of our day was suppose to consist of mountain biking. I picked Old Stone Fort because the nearby city had a new greenway. I thought the greenway would be a great place for our first ride of the season because it would be an easy, smooth ride. Imagine my disappointment when I pull up the greenway entrance, and read rule #1 No Bikes. :(

Who would have thought a greenway would not allow bikes? Why not call it a walkway? Other greenways that I know of allow bicycles. I was quite upset because we had taken the time to load the bikes and carried them with us the whole way. Oh well, we ended up riding them in our neighborhood, but that just isn’t the same.

Overall, I had a great time. Be sure to check out some of the pictures.
